Beer Review: Trailer Park Boys Green Bastard IPA

If you are Canadian, you have probably heard of the Trailer Park Boys.  If you haven't heard of them, google it right now, I'll wait for you to find it..... waiting..... waiting..... now that you are back, you probably have seen photos of Bubbles, Ricky and Julian.

Well based on the TV show, they are releasing various alcoholic beverages, such as the Green Bastard IPA, Freedom 35 Lager, and Ricky's Catch 23 Malt Liquor.   You will see them in the LCBO or local beer stores for sure, they have seemed to really take off!!

This past weekend, while at Mark's place discussing our upcoming Park to Park ride (which will have a full documentary done up) I enjoyed the Trailer Park Boys Green Bastard IPA.  Now I know what you are thinking, a beer based on the Trailer Park Boys can't be good, well my friends you are completely wrong, it's a bottle of joy.

As in typical IPA fashion, it is on the stronger side of the ABV and IBU, at both 6.5% and 65 respectively.    That being said, the actual hops hit during the tasting was as sharp as I would have expected.  There were mild notes of hops, but nothing like an Amsterdam Boneshaker or something like that.  The flavour profile was on the lighter side, with a medium biterness at the end.  But saying that the whole flavour profile suited what I personally enjoyed.

The old sniffer test had the strong hops aroma that you would expect from an IPA.  So nothing really out of the ordinary there.

At the end of the day, not only did I have to try the beer because it has the Trailer Park Boys association, as well as the Green Bastard, but it also tasted really good.  I would gladly buy this again, just a matter of tracking it down.  It seems to be a little tough to find currently, as it is fairly new in the LCBO's, but if you do see it on the shelf pick one up, you will not be disappointed.  Anything with a picture of Bubbles in the Green Bastard costume can not be bad!!!!!
