2018 Racing / Riding Schedule
Like always, the summers revolve around riding, whether it be just a casual jaunt to Dufferin Forest, or a Stage race in northern Ontario. The goal for each race or event I plan on entering, is mainly to have fun, and push myself to the limit, all the while making sure I have enough energy to enjoy the post race festivities and a pint.
Kingston Trophy: September 1st, 2018
This is an annual event that I head off to. MTB Kingston, Rob Sangers, and everyone from the area are amazing hosts! Dan from Substance Projects host's the Kingston Trophy, as part of the XC Marathon Series. This race, if you have never done it before, is worth the drive to Kingston. It usually involves camping out the night before and the night after the race, on the Sangers' farm. The course is rocky, rooty, flowy, and perfect, not much else to say other than do it!

Fall Epic 8 Hour: September 22nd, 2018
Well what can I say differently then the Summer Epic 8 Hour. This one may be a tag team with Mr. Chris Sheriffs, we will see. It is still a ways out and a lot can change, but either tag team or solo for sure.

Sausage Suit ITT: October 13th, 2018
Another awesome event hosted by Dan and Substance Projects, with the help of Team Van Go. All Singletrack, Time Trial Start, and a fun day in Dufferin Forest. This is usually the last hurrah for the racing season before the winter hits. With the TT start, you have no mass start, and riders start at 30 second intervals. It makes for another awesome day!

The above pretty much covers off what races I'm looking at for 2018.
Park to Park
As for an Epic Ride. This year June 8-10 Mark, Bernie and I, will be doing Park to Park on the rail trail. This is a 280km ish ride from Killbear to Algonquin Park. Camping for 2 nights on the trail, and only water and supplies per what we can get as we ride. There will be a stop at Trestle Brewery for sure as the trail nicely goes right along it. Can't wait it will be aweome!!!
To break it all down, there really are only a few events etc for the year, no major out of province trips, or 12 day rides across another province. This year, will be staying in Ontario, and just going back to some good ole fashion riding.
Weekly Race Series: May thru September
Superfly racing hosts the Wednesday Night Race Series out of Albion Hills. I've always been curious to try it, and well this will be the year. No commitment to the full season, most likely looking at every other Wednesday, but will be great to just head down and push for a night.
Spring Epic 8 Hour: May 12th, 2018
Perennial favorite, the Spring Epic 8hr, at Mansfield Outdoor Center is a great way to kick off the season. With it being so close to home, and the trails at the MOC (that's what the cool kids call it) are absolutely amazing, it is an event not to miss. This event hosted by Chico Racing, as always, is just spot on with organization, great atmosphere and some incredible riders.
Summer Epic 8 Hour: July 14th, 2018
Just like the Spring 8hr, this is an 8Hr relay event, and the plan for me will be to Tag team with Roz. Run at Hardwood Hills, just like all the other events, the trails are amazing, the atmosphere is electric, and it is 8hr of pure fun. Pulse Racing are great at what they do, and they make the day a blast for young and old and everyone in between.
Crank the Shield: August 17-19th, 2018
After a few year hiatus, Crank the Shield is back, and this time it is based out of Sault Ste Marie. I have personally never competed in Crank the Shield, but this year I will be, and doing it as a Tag Team with Mr. Chris Wurtz. Chris no doubt will be pushing me to the limit, cause well he is just that awesome! This is a 3-day stage race, which will be fun, and I hope we will have many spectacular views along the way!
